Jeanette Sayre, LLP, LLPC

Hello! I am Jeanette Sayre, a Limited Licensed Psychologist, Limited Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advance Alcohol & Drug Counselor with over 12 years of experience. I specialize in Substance Abuse, Depression, Anxiety, Sexual Offense behaviors and Anger Management. I work with Children, Adults and Couples within a variety of settings often focusing on evidence-based, and integrative approaches to treatment. I believe in supporting my clients as they create a healthy life plan, focusing on setting and achieving goals, exploring their feelings and emotions, and identifying coping skills to utilize when needed. I am passionate about helping individuals overcome life challenges, conquering their fears, and establishing healthy routines that help maintain long term progress.

I grew up in Gaylord MI with goals for moving out of state and traveling. After completing my Associate’s Degree from North Central Michigan College, I moved to Mount Pleasant where I worked on my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I decided to participate in study abroad and ended up moving to Italy while I pursued my Master’s Degree in International Psychology. I was able to take a position within an International Mental Health Practice as a Supports Coordinator and worked with children with emotional impairments in the International School of Monza, coordinating services and advocating for children with special needs. After 4 years of living abroad I moved back to Michigan where I finished my degree and began working with children with Autism as an ABA tutor as well as with clients with substance abuse backgrounds.

In 2014 I decided to open my private practice, Up North Psychology PLLC, to better serve my clients. I have enjoyed the freedom of exploring various treatment modalities and have expanded my skillset through different trainings and certifications. I enjoy working with people from all different backgrounds. I currently work with clients who are involved within the legal system, Recovery Court, and complete treatment and assessments for the Juvenile, Circuit and District Courts. I run Art therapy groups and meet individually with children and adults based on specific client’s needs. When working with people, I like to emphasize the importance of the collaboration that takes place within the therapeutic relationship and how important it is for people to feel validated and not judged. I believe this is a major component in long term progress, versus a short-term solution. Helping people establish a life plan to use beyond treatment is something that I value and enjoy being a part of. I am very passionate about identifying healthy hobbies and activities to help aide in recovery. I value the importance of animals and the healing properties that they can bring to people. Because of this, my dogs are available at the office to help provide support and comfort.

Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I hope to be able to help you navigate these upcoming changes and look forward to our work together.
